Why should every christian be involved in some kind of service?

You have at least one spiritual gift given to you to employ with the context of your local church (1 Pet 4: 10) For the purpose of edification (Eph 4: 11-13). Romans 12: 3-8 list possible identified gifts that you may have which are serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leadership and mercy. It encourages us to use these gifts that God has given us to help out in ministry the best we can.

You are responsible before the lord to obey all the "One another" commands in scripture and this starts within the church. For example, we need to stimulate one another to love good deed (Heb 10:24), pray for one another (James 5: 16), be devoted to one another (Rom 12: 10), encourage one another (1 Thess 5: 11), Serve one another (Gal 5: 13), Cloth yourself with humility toward one another ( 1 pet 5: 5), this all starts within the church so that you can set good examples to non believers and represent Christ in the right way.

By serving your church your store up for yourselves "Treasures in heaven". Jesus made a profound statement in Matthew (6: 19-21) "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will also be". This warns us of the folly of working to accumulate worldly and temporary possessions rather than dedicating ones time and resources for the benefit and furtherance of Gods kingdom.

You need to think of your church as though it is a priority in life. (Galatians 6: 10) reads, " So then, as we have opportunity let us do good to everyone and especially to those who are of the household of faith". In order for God to bless us let us do good by contributing to the church with our gifts, the church is a place where we are able to receive refreshing through the teaching of the word of God and the corporate anointing, so let us choose to give back to the church with our service.
